Auto-Populating Narratives
Continuing on our theme of Medical Writing Superpowers (Efficiency, Compliance, Cooperation, Accuracy, Consistency, Presentation, Voice) and the tools to help you achieve them, I wanted to next highlight automating content to clinical narratives.
Auto-populating Narratives (Activate your powers for Efficiency, Accuracy, Consistency)
If your responsibilities include writing narratives, there are tools that help take some of the data-loading drudgery out of that task – one that may have to be repeated over dozens of narratives.
There are methods of programming that can automatically populate data into narrative templates direct from the database. This information can be as text or as table content.
This allows much of the front loading needed for a set of narratives to be done quickly and accurately.
This front loading leaves time for the writer to focus on the other content and flow of the narrative.
This also helps narrative review as the data pulled from the database will be accurate without any transcription errors.
Automated data population can also be spun into complex, but user-friendly, patient profiles to help medical quality reviews.
