Publications Writer - Contract

Role

Acumen is seeking an experienced publications writer to join our team on a project-by-project basis to support Acumen’s clients in writing and submitting scientific abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and manuscripts. The Publications Writer will work alongside other Acumen writers, program managers, graphic designers, editors, and publishers, to provide complete support to clients submitting material to scientific conferences and journals. The writer will also work directly with client/sponsor teams and external collaborators. Previous manuscript development and submission required. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a medical writer in industry or at a CRO. Experience in oncology or immunology therapeutic areas a plus. This is a remote contract opportunity.

Compensation is extremely competitive.

Core responsibilities

• Leads writing for scientific conference material submission (abstracts, posters, oral presentations)

• Leads writing for scientific journal manuscript submissions

• Interfaces with client team to manage document through all stages of development including author reviews and gateway submissions

• Collaborates with client’s subject matter experts (SMEs) to determine core content and key messaging of assigned documents

• Writes all drafts of assigned documents, including comment reconciliation and chairing any required round tables

• Develops and maintains assigned document timelines

• Applies working knowledge of manuscript standards and authoring experience to assist teams to generate structured, scientifically accurate, and well written documents for submission
