Introducing Tim Henion: The Secret to the Awesome Sauce
Some things in life are truly awesome. In nature, the Grand Canyon, Sequoia National Park, the Cliffs of Moher come to mind. If music is your thing, the personification of awesome may be Mozart or the Beatles. Every field has its pantheon of awesome, and if one were to carve the busts of the medical writing greats into the side of a mountain, I would posit that Tim Henion should be considered for inclusion. True, I am a bit biased, but ask those who have worked with him, and they will almost certainly agree.
Why is he so darn awesome? Maybe because, at his very core, Tim is a great scientist, having honed his brain studying molecular and glycobiology as an assistant professor at the University of Massachusetts and Harvard medical schools from the late 1990s to 2006. Good start, right? Add to that Tim’s military service as a Captain in the US Army Reserves., and we are now approaching awesome.
But what puts Tim over the top? What has allowed him to ascend to the top of this game so quickly? Maybe it’s his completely straightforward and honest leadership of all writing projects which includes imparting his experience and guidance in the most incisive, yet humble, way. Telling Acumen’s clients where their data are lacking, where their messaging is inconsistent, and when they are overstepping interpretations of their study data are key to getting the job done. Every drug development team could benefit from this kind of fair and honest assessment of the data. When he is developing a content plan or providing solutions to a project in progress, Tim is always considering cost and time, the size and experience of the team, and what is expected and needed by regulators. Tim will be the first to let you know if something is unnecessary or alternatively needs a significant change. Tim’s pragmatic approach to every project and commitment to efficiency is a welcome attribute in the hectic world of regulatory writing.
Tim came to Acumen via Harvard, where he was whipping manuscripts into submission shape. Since then, he has continued to author publications, but has also led dozens of IND submissions and helped quite a few companies launch their clinical programs. As a manager and mentor, Tim has trained Acumen’s next generation of non-clinical writers who share his ethos for accuracy and regulatory document excellence. His awesomeness is amplified since, personally, he is a pleasure to be around. What else would you expect from a man with the deepest vinyl collection in New England (from Bonnie Prince Billy to Jordi Savall), a passion for cyclocross mountain biking, and a giant pet rabbit which may be occasionally spotted in the background of Zoom meetings. How much more awesome can you get?
